About Evie

Hi, I'm Evie. I'm a UX Designer, but my design journey started in 2007 with some cringeworthy Myspace layouts. I was teaching myself HTML, playing around with colors and fonts. A couple of years later I got into print design through a yearbook class, and that's when I realized I really love creating things.

In college, I majored in Landscape Architecture, designing outdoor spaces through mockups and draft drawings. It taught me how to think spatially and pay attention to details, and that's a mindset I still bring to every project. After graduation I decided to move into tech, starting as an app developer. But while I was coding, I found myself way more interested in how people interacted with the app than the code itself - and that's how I fell into UX.

I started freelancing, mostly working with healthcare startups to design CRM interfaces. That's when I decided to level up and pursue a Master's in Human-Computer Interaction from DePaul University in Chicago. While I was in grad school, I got a job at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management, the #2 best business school in the US. I started redesigning a career management website there. After that I moved into a UX Analyst role, managing the Executive Education website - a platform with over 98k monthly users.

Then life took a turn. I stepped away from my career to take care of a sick family member. During this time, I poured my energy into refining my product design skills and diving deeper into wireframing with Figma, working on some personal projects. Now I'm ready to jump back into work, especially in agile teams where I can collaborate closely with developers. Mobile apps, healthcare, education - those are the spaces where I feel like I can make an impact.

Being trans shapes a lot of how I see the world - and how I design. Accessibility (a11y) isn't just a checklist; it's personal. I believe good design is inclusive by default, and I aim to create interfaces that make every user feel seen and considered.

Outside of work, I'm inspired by modern art, photography, and minimal design. I love how a simple, well-crafted space - whether it's a room or a screen - can make you feel something. And that's what I strive to do in every project: create experiences that feel effortless but leave a lasting impression.
